One of the most common mistakes in branding I run across is the use of ‘free’ email addresses used by companies. And I am not only speaking of small companies, but larger, established companies. So much time and attention is spent on business cards, websites, and brochures, and yet one of the most regularly used and visible forms of communication is fumbled by defaulting to a webmail service address. The solution for having ‘custom/branded’ email addresses is not difficult or expensive to implement. Nor does it preclude use of pre-existing email addresses. But if a company wants to appear professional-looking, it must ditch the Gmail, Yahoo, cable company email, earthlink, and all the other services and focus on a company/branded email account. Remember, every email sent is another branding opportunity. Don’t waste it!
